2023.1.116.1 Shared Packages

To share created assets, the assets can be copied to the shared asset folder. This is a folder that, when configured, the library will index and add to the library. Assets will show up under the category defined by the asset. You can sync this folder between your team using any kind of shared folder. For example with a network folder, any kind of cloud provider or WebDAV.

The shared asset location can be configured by clicking the shared folder settings (1). Shared assets are marked with the corresponding icon (2).

How to use

  1. Create a folder on your computer where you want to sync the shared assets.

  2. Copy the assets that you’d like to share to the newly created folder. Assets are created in the Documents folder under Prespective\IA\Packages. To copy an Asset to the folder, copy the 3 files of the asset to the newly created folder. The files to copy are the iapackage, json and png files. The files all have the same name. Which follows the naming convention:

    • 32 characters that define the ID

    • An underscore ( _ )

    • The version

    • An underscore ( _ )

    • the name of the asset

      Example:

      abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxz1234567_1.0_Test asset

  3. This folder can be synced between your team using any kind of shared folder. For example with a network folder, any kind of cloud provider or WebDAV. As long as the assets are in the folder the library will recognize them.

  4. Click the Shared folder settings and it will open the Asset Library Shared Folder Settings. This window allows the user to define the location of the shared folder to use.

  5. Click Browse and select the folder created in step 1.

  6. Then click Set shared assets location to save the location. Please note that this location is project specific and needs to be set every project. This enables the user to use different shared assets in different projects.

  7. It will then show a popup saying that it has set the path and close the popup. Setting the path will automatically update the library.

  8. The assets are now visible in the library.
